Ancient Greece can be defined as an advanced, rationalistic, in equal society. The Greeks could be considered advanced because of their education; they were regionalist society because of their trade and unequal because of their treatment of women.
Ancient Greece can be defined as an advanced society. Ancient Greece can be called an advanced society because of their education, technology and democratic government. The education in Ancient Greece is advanced because of their kids would be taught from ages one to six by their mothers. “In Ancient Athens, the purpose of education was to produce citizens.” This quote shows that education is a big part of Ancient Greece’s lives. Ancient Greece is advanced in their democratic government because that type of government is still used today.” At Sparta everyone is eligible, and the body of the people, having a share in the highest office.” This shows that citizens in Sparta get to choose their leader. Lastly, Ancient Greece had advanced weapons. ”The spears now of the most of them by this time had broken, but they used their swords to slay the Persians.” This quote shows that Ancient Greeks had more them one type of weapon to use and were ready for any problems.
Unequality was an important part in Ancient Greece. In Ancient Greece women were not allowed to fight alongside men, they could not own any land, and they were not allowed to do anything without the knowledge of their husbands. “She should allow none to enter without her husband’s knowledge”. This quote shows that women were limited on what they can and can’t do freely. Helots were also treated poorly. Helots were slaves that were conquered by the Dorians and were owned by the state. The helots were ruthlessly oppressed by their Spartan masters and those who crowned themselves with garlands and said they have done their service. Lastly, Women could not own any money and anything of value was her husbands. “Nor does abundance of gold so conduce to the praise of a woman.” This quote says that women could not have any money in their possession.

In Ancient Greece the citizens were obedient to their authority. “We give are obedience to those whom we put in positions of authority.” This quote shows that the citizens are obedient because they chose their leader and they are happy with him. Also the citizens can think and vote for the laws. “The worst thing is to rush into actions before the consequences have been property debated.” This quote shows that the citizens put much thought into their laws. Lastly, citizens were free to live the way they wanted if they followed the laws. “We are free and tolerant in are private life but in public affairs we keep to the law.” This quote shows that citizens life free in public but in foreign affairs to speak out and follow the law.
